This will be my first Christmas market.
I'm looking forward to a fun day.

I'm busy getting lots of beautiful hand painted ceramics ready for my stall.

Christchurch Christmas Festival is a wonderful community celebration of Christmas and all things festive! The day includes a Christmas market, live music & entertainment, an arts & craft market and of course the Christmas Lights Switch on.
DON’T MISS OUT! Join us and our traders at this festive event on Christchurch High Street and in Saxon Square on Saturday 25th November from 10am until late… Oh, and keep an eye out for a certain St Nicholas and his Reindeer friends.

I have a name now for my ceramics. Red Kite Ceramics. I hope you all like it as it captures the things that I love. Red kites fly up over the hills in Dorset, they've made a comeback from the brink of disappearing from our landscape. They make me thing of freedom and freedom is an important thing to me as I love walking and exploring the world. I also love to fly kites and have many happy memories of flying them with my family. There is always a great kite festival; at Hengistbury head where we would enjoy a picnic and fly the kite at the same time. Dorset is a great place to do that sort of thing.

I'm now preparing some of my work for my Christmas markets. If you wish to purchase an item yourself, do contact me. https://www.facebook.com/pamsmithceramics/ or email pamcsmith@hotmail.co.uk

My latest firing using some new ideas and techniques

I was excited about this firing as I tired out some more new ideas. Dorset is a very beautiful county and has some remarkably different landscapes. Up on high down land hills there are tall towers and churches. The views drift over woodland and fields to reach distant hills. It's here that skylarks, buzzards and red kites fly, butterflies hover over meadows of grasses and wild flowers and sometimes you just get lucky and there in front of you is a huge field of poppies. I do love the poppies but it's just as wonderful to see a field of blue flax, brilliant yellow rapeseed or woods filled with the deep scent of bluebells. I've been enjoying mixing landscape with flowers and blending different glazes and undercoats to achieve the colours.

Painted and ready to be fired.

I've been busy painting today as it's been wet and windy here in Dorset.
After a walk in the forest I finished the Kitchen Utensils holder with Dorset scenes. Corfe Castle on one side and the Dorset coast on the other with Hardy's monument upon the hill.

This one of Hengistbury head and Christchurch Harbour was yesterday's work.
It has Old Harry Rock's near Swanage on the reverse.

Finally finished my French village/Olargues tilted pot. It has Carcassonne on the reverse.
